how to play the arpeggiator
subscribers onlyPlayed in its most minimal form, straight out of the computer, it is beautiful and soothing. Played into a physical or soft synth, an enriched version of itself is unlocked.
the four forms-
1Random acts of beauty
A drop fills the space. The space empties and the next one arrives. Beauty shows up. Unscheduled, one drop after another. Sound patterns to reconnect with our inner silence. Reminders on a felt level that kindness, love, is what we are made of.
-
2Holding
Drops landing on the notes of a chord, ringing long enough to sound together instead of one after another. A tone slides into a neighbouring one while the other two stay. A chord held, and a reminder to hold ourselves, and even more so, to hold others a bit more often.
-
3Letting go
A gradual descent into quiet. The sound loosens its own grip, note by note. Leaps get smaller, the silences longer, the tails longer, and the register draws in around a single tone. What it does is predictable; when and where it does it is not.
-
4Resonance
Each drop is a warm tone that swells in slowly and rings for a long time. The notes’ tails share overtones and keep ringing together in the quiet. When two of those pure tones overlap, our ear adds a soft low tone that’s not being played. The sound grows larger than what is played. Giuseppe Tartini heard this in 1714 and called it the third sound. The sparser it plays, the more each tail stands alone and the fuller the silence becomes.
The autonomous, hands-free experience. The arpeggiator plays itself out of the box, generating infinite ambient soundscapes automatically. Ideal for effortless background immersion, relaxation, and focus without needing any external gear.
self playingFull setup integration and content-creation tools. Hang an external synth underneath through MIDI to drive physical hardware, in A=432 Hz and A=440 Hz. Feed your own voice, instruments, or samples into the audio path beside the drops, and record your live performances directly to a file, making it the engine for guided meditations and layered audio productions.
Things can be taken further by using the arpeggiator as a basis for ambient soundscapes with added instruments, as in all Somasonic instruments. Go out, play, and share.
